Rooted in tradition. Awakened by inquiry.
Devoted to Sadbhava.
At Aantarya, you don't just take classes. You become part of a guru parampara that runs from our Paramaguru, Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. R S Nandakumar, through our founder Vidushi Ashwini T N, to every learner.
Knowledge here is passed on the way it always has been in India, from heart to heart, with care, depth and authenticity.
Rooted in a lineage, alive in every learner.
Here, character comes before skill.
Every song, shloka and session carries meaning that builds kindness, discipline, gratitude, humility and compassion.
Children grow into grounded, thoughtful individuals, and adults rediscover clarity and purpose. Through Antarmukhi, our learners also come to understand the body, the mind and the self, the Bharateeya way.
Where character is the
first lesson.
Real learning needs real practice.
Our structured programmes in classical music, Kannada light music, shlokas and stotras balance shastra and prayoga, theory and practice.
Bi-monthly workshops, guest faculty, the Bhakti-Bhava Intensives and annual retreats keep that sadhana steady, joyful and alive. Here, skill is earned through dedication, not shortcuts.
Mastery, one devoted practice at a time.
Every learner who joins us becomes part of a larger purpose. Good individuals build good communities. Good communities build great societies.
Great societies, tested by time, create a coherent nation, and thus a world of Sadbhava. Learning at Aantarya is not only for yourself; it is a contribution to the generations to come.
From one good heart to a better world.
Naadanandana is a class for students of Karnataka Classical Music. We hold Shastra (theory) and Prayoga (practice) in balance as we walk the Sadhana Marga, the path of disciplined practice, of this luminous art form. Karnataka Sangeeta has evolved over thousands of years. It carries scientific understanding, philosophical depth and insight into the voice and body. At Naadanandana, students explore all of these dimensions while preparing themselves to become musicians through discipline, regular practice and dedication, and with plenty of joy along the way.
Our teaching is rooted in the Guru Parampara, the living lineage of teachers passing knowledge to students. In this tradition, every student's growth and interest is nurtured with care. Together we travel a systematic journey through Shruti (pitch), Laya (rhythm) and Raga (melody). Deeply immersed in the Bharateeya Gnana Parampara, India's knowledge tradition, the music renews the minds of practitioners and listeners alike.
We offer training at junior and senior levels. We welcome students who want to live the art, not just take it up as a hobby. For those ready to make music a way of life, Naadanandana offers a path that is rigorous, rooted and joyful.
This beautiful genre draws on a vast ocean of literature that has expressed our land's greatness in many ways. Dasa Sahitya, Bhavageete, Bhaktigeete, Janapada, Vachana and Tatvapada each shine in their own right. Generations of scholarly poets have given us these treasures, nurturing our language, encouraging purposeful thinking and spreading love for all.
In every class we lose ourselves in the music, diving deep into the lyrics of each song. Music becomes the very breath that lets us enjoy the bliss of its depth. Each session brings discussion, positive thinking, social compassion and structured musical practice, and much more besides.
Every song becomes a part of life, enriched by the coming together of the poet's heart and the composer's soulful music.
Today, there is growing appreciation for how the regular practice of even a simple four-line shloka can sharpen focus, steady the mind and support memory. With this understanding, and drawing on thousands of years of parampara, we humbly bring together a few drops from the vast ocean of the Indian Knowledge Systems.
Students learn nitya shlokas, stotras and subhashitas, along with a basic grounding in Sanskrit. This helps them understand what they chant, practise it with care and resonate more deeply with every class.
We follow traditional teaching methods. We are grateful to have students who embrace these practices wholeheartedly amid the chaos of today's world.
At Aantarya, learning is guided by the wisdom, care and experience of our Ācāryas. Each teacher brings a unique depth of knowledge and practice, while remaining rooted in the Guru–Shishya Parampara. Their role extends beyond teaching a subject, they nurture the learner through knowledge, practice and lived experience.

Ācāryā — Jeevalahari & Gaanalahari

Online learning carries our students far. Some things, however, can only pass from guru to shishya in the same room: the subtle correction of a gamaka, the shared breath of a group in song, the energy of practice together. Our year-long bi-monthly workshops, held mostly in Bengaluru, bring learners together in person at regular intervals.
Each workshop moves through revision of what has been learned, introduction of new techniques, and careful correction through rigorous practice. Every session also welcomes one or two distinguished guest faculty, whose insight illuminates our learners and inspires them to dive deeper into the art.
Open to learners beyond our Gurukula, the Bhakti-Bhava Intensive is a carefully planned and structured study of a varied repertoire of devotional songs. Each composition is explored for both its musical craft and its literary depth, so that participants reach the insight that lives where the two meet.
Each year, the Gurukula travels to a place steeped in history and knowledge, such as Hampi and Sringeri, where centuries of art, scholarship and devotion still echo in stone, river and forest. Amid the greenery and natural sounds, away from daily distraction, we pause, listen and rediscover our inner calling for the practice of Sahitya, Sangeeta and Jeevana Tattva.
Our Gurukula offers more than dedicated musical learning. Growing under the blessings of Bhagavati and the guidance of the Guru Parampara, we strive to extend a hand to every kind of learner, nurturing the inner wellbeing of each individual.
Good individuals build good communities.
Good communities build great societies. Great societies, tested by time, create a coherent nation, and thus a world of Sadbhava. Antarmukhi is our course for understanding the self and what lies beyond, drawing on India’s timeless wisdom traditions. It offers a rich body of knowledge about the body, the mind, the nature of thought and the deeper layers of being. It approaches the inner life with the same rigour and curiosity a scientist brings to the outer world.
